TAB RAIL ROAD COMPANY

TAB Rail Road is the road transport company of the Open Modal Group, specialising in Rail-Road Combined Transport.

OUR HISTORY

The Rail-Road Combined Transport specialist

A leader in France, TAB Rail Road aims to offer sustainable long-distance transport through the alliance of rail and road.

The story of TAB Rail Road begins in 1943 in Montpellier, when Jean Brunier founded Établissements Brunier Transports, which became TAB Transport Auto Brunier in 1962.

In 1978, Jean-Claude Brunier took over the family business with one idea in mind: developing Rail-Road Combined Transport. In the 2000s, he was joined by his children, Antonin, Clémence and Jeanne, the third generation to join the company.
The arrival of swap bodies and grapple handling marked a turning point for combined transport.

More convinced than ever by this technique combining the flexibility of road with the reliability of rail, Jean-Claude Brunier invested in swap bodies and specialised TAB Rail Road in the Rail-Road Combined Transport technique. The company established itself in the Greater Paris region and the South-West, and strengthened its position in the South-East.

Since September 2024, Franck Bimet has been the Chief Executive Officer of TAB Rail Road.

As early as 2016, TAB Rail Road chose Natural Gas for Vehicles, an alternative fuel that reduces fine particle emissions by 95% and NOx emissions by 50%, and, in its bio version, cuts CO2 emissions by 80%.

Today, 100% of TAB Rail Road’s vehicle fleet runs on CNG. In 2020, TAB Rail Road entered its digitalisation phase, rolling out its TMS (Transport Management System), followed by the deployment of Track and Trace in 2021.
